History

AT Films’ initial inception in 1968 built on the existing plastics manufacturing group of C-I-L Polymers Inc. In August of 2007, AT Films was acquired by the prestigious group of operating businesses known as British Polythene Industries PLC.
As one of the largest producers of polythene film products within the UK and Europe, BPI is rapidly becoming a major player in a truly global industry. AT Films is the first Canadian company to join the six operating businesses within British Polythene Industries PLC Group. With an office and manufacturing facilities located in Edmonton and Westlock, Alberta, AT Films Inc. employs over 85 people.
With 70 unionized employees and production sites in Edmonton and Westlock, Alberta, AT Films Inc. is an ISO 9001-certified manufacturer of quality film products. The company’s flagship Edmonton plant opened in 1968, shifting to specialty films in 1982. AT Plastics Inc. was formed in 1989 when ICI divested its film business. In 2003, the amalgamation of AT Plastics Inc and Acetex added both scale and expertise. Celanese Corporation purchased AT Plastics Inc. in 2005. In 2007, BPI purchased Celanese’s films division to form today’s AT Films Inc.
