Account Manager (Sales) – Western Canada

The Candidate:

It is a must that the candidate posses’ the following characteristics and personality traits in order to be considered for this position. You must be an outgoing people person with great etiquette and communications skills. You must be able to multi-task on a continual basis and maintain a very high degree of organization while doing so. Professionalism is a must and will be expected in this position. You will be asked to solve problems on your own and with a team. Basic understanding of the agricultural and/or horticultural industries is a plus and will be given careful consideration. In order to handle the long hours this position entails, a strong work ethic must be the fabric of your personality. Also, a persuasive personality is a must in this position.

Position Overview / Job Overview:

The Account Manager is primarily responsible for managing, maintaining and obtaining both an existing and new customer base in Western Canada (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia). This position will be based at our Edmonton office and will report directly to the Sales Manager. Primary functions of this position include:

  • Day to day sales activities in the horticultural and agricultural industry
  • Travel (may include overnight stays)
  • Accountable for achieving budgeted sales targets
  • Increasing sales through existing and new product lines
  • Customer retention along with development of new customer base
  • Managing an existing distribution network
  • Attending and/or exhibiting in tradeshows, conventions and customer events

Essential Job Functions:

  • Travel: Sales calls via automobile and/or airlines
  • Budget: achieving and/or exceeding monthly budget/forecast goals
  • Forecast/Reports: provide monthly forecasts / prepare travel reports, monthly territory reports, market outlook reports
  • Manage Distribution Network and Customer Base
  • Develop new dealerships and new product lines

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Post Secondary education in Agriculture, Horticultural and/or Marketing
  • Computer literate, well versed in: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Sales experience in agricultural or horticultural industry or related industry
  • Valid drivers license and passport / clean driving record
  • Strong communications skills: Verbal and Written
  • Travel experience
  • Team oriented

Abilities Required:

  • Work under pressure
  • Achieve desired sales results
  • Understanding the Agricultural and Horticultural Markets
  • Able to multi task
  • High degree of organizational skills
